I just had a crazy realization

I distinctly remember this sequence in Chapter 12 of Clockwork Prince where Benedict Lightwood was engaging in some kind of sexual activity with a demon woman.

Nesta HC / Rant

With all the ACSF news lately, I’ve been knee-deep in Nesta and Nessian fics and I couldn’t get this dialogue out of my head. I know it might not happen, but I would love to see either Elain or Nesta confront Rhys and the IC about their behavior and how much of a mistake it was to ship Nesta off at the end of ACOFAS. Anyway, I’ve never written or really posted anything in this fandom before but I felt like I needed to get this down on paper haha

• Anyway so I could see this going two ways with Elain (and idk if this is ooc for her or not, so sorry if it is). I could see Elain not having known about Feyre and Rhys’s decision to banish Nesta from Velaris and Elain feeling like she’s the only one that sees how much of a disaster this is and could become and then she ends up giving Rhys a piece of her mind about the decision and his behavior.

• However, I could also see this sort of scene taking place at some point when Nesta and Cassian have rejoined the group for something and Nesta is trying to talk with Feyre or work together and Rhys keeps trying to but in and insert himself into their relationship and Elain has had enough. 

•Like Nesta’s finally opening up and saying something vulnerable and Rhys makes some kind of snide comment under his breath about Nesta  and Elain and just snaps (in my dreams at least lol) and is like “No. This is a family matter, and it is not your place to cast judgement upon something, and, frankly, someone you know nothing about.”

•And Rhys tries to but in and say something about how he’s Feyre’s family now, and Elain is like “I wasn’t finished. My sister’s relationship with her family and those she chooses to share her life with is none of your business. There are plenty of comments I could make on your relationships and life choices, but do you see me inserting myself into your personal life? No. This ridiculous grudge you hold against my sister ends now.”

•And then she goes on this rant saying something like “I understand that personalities can clash, but your resentment and anger toward her is unwarranted and the way in which you have treated her has been unacceptable and stops right damn now.” (idk if swearing is ooc for her, but i feel like i could see it in the right moment)

•Anyway, she goes on like: “I know that our home life situation in the village upsets you, and you’re right, Feyre should not have had to go out and risk her life to put food on our table—no child should ever have to do that, to carry that kind of burden. And that’s what we all were—children. If anyone is to blame for what happened it is our father, who sat there night and day and did nothing to save his family, who allowed his daughter to go out into those woods. Nesta and I did not ask or force Feyre to make the choices she made. Was our inaction regrettable? Yes, but Nesta is not responsible for that hardship. And if you feel you must irrationally place the blame on her, then you must blame me as well. For there is nothing she did that I did not also do.  

So why do you continue to resent Nesta but not me? If it is simply a personality difference then I find your actions incredibly hypocritical and disappointing, for that is not the person I thought you to be. We were children, and I am sure that you made plenty mistakes of your own when you were that age. No one in this room is perfect, yet you continue to harp on the one who is suffering the most. 

Nesta and Feyre’s relationship is between them—none of your business—and I for one think that any slights or mistakes you feel you are victim to were more than made up for through her actions this past summer when she killed the King of Hybern and played an invaluable role in winning a war and saving millions of lives. That is what matters here. Have you even thanked her for that? Because it seems like you all have simply chosen to turn a blind eye and ignore her and her struggles whenever suits you. You pay attention to her when it’s helpful for you, but when she’s dealing with the aftermath of the most traumatic events she’s ever experienced you act as if she’s invisible, or, worse, mock her as if her pain means nothing to you. You ignore her pain because it is inconvenient and when it becomes too grave and too impossible to ignore you ship her off somewhere where you don’t have to deal with it. That kind of behavior is unacceptable and I cannot and will not stand for it. If I ever hear you speak of her in that tone again, we are going to have a serious problem. Because that is not how a family works, and if you want to be a part of ours then that needs to change now. Is that clear? Good.

•Then I imagine her turning to Nesta, if she was in the room, and just asking: “What do you need?” and getting down to business

Top three fictional universes I’d like to live in: oof realistically none, but if i had to choose, i’d probably say: the raven cycle universe (i could totally dig being psychic or (like blue) psychic-adjacent and finding my soulmates), tsc universe (prob during the last hours bc i would die to be a part of the cordelia/lucie/anna squad), or harry potter (what kid doesn’t grow up wishing magic was real–not a fan of jkr atm though)
